Former Arsenal and Real Madrid winger Reyes tragically died in a car crash on Saturday morning just outside Seville aged 35. It proved an emotional evening for everyone at the club and when Carlos Pomeras scored the only goal of the game in the first half, players ran to the sideline to collect one of the pre-match T-shirts and raised it in the air. After news of Reyes' death was confirmed, Extremadura's president Manuel Franganillo confirmed the No 19 shirt will be retired as a mark of respect for Reyes. 'The No 19 shirt will now have an owner for eternity, a footballing legend who we were fortunate to have as part of our family', Franganillo said, according to AS. Reyes' coffin was carried through the streets of his hometown of Utrera on Monday as mourners gathered to pay respects at his funeral. The ex-Sevilla star's body was carried from Utrera's Town Hall, where it was held for an overnight wake, to Santa Maria Church on Monday, with a large crowd lining the streets to pay their final respects. A new development emerged on Tuesday as Spanish police confirmed Reyes was driving at more than 135 miles per hour when his car crashed. A statement from former club Sevilla which announced Reyes' death said his cousin, Jonathan Reyes, also died in the crash on the A-376.
