Liverpool have lined up a high-profile friendly against Lyon in Geneva with the European Champions on the verge of formalising their pre-season plans.
Jurgen Klopp's squad will report back to Melwood at the beginning of next month, though the squad will not be at full strength immediately as Roberto Firmino and Alisson Becker are part of Brazil's Copa America squad and Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will be at the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt and Senegal.
The manager's methods revolve around playing matches to gain fitness and Liverpool will begin with an annual trip across the Mersey to play their neighbours Tranmere Rovers, who are newly-promoted to League One, on July 11
