The Spanish giants announced on Tuesday that they had sealed a £62m deal to sign Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt on a six-year contract. But according to Portuguese newspaper Record, the Bundesliga outfit will only pocket 70 per cent of that fee, with the rest going to Benfica. The German club exercised their right to sign him earlier this year after watching him develop into one of Europe's hottest young forwards. However, Benfica also included a sell-on clause in the agreement, giving them 30 per cent of his next transfer fee. Jovic made four appearances in all competitions for Benfica before joining Frankfurt on loan The 21-year-old found his best form in Germany and attracted strong interest from Barcelona That money, plus the £5.5m Frankfurt paid to sign Jovic, means the Portuguese champions have pocketed more than £20m for a player who made just four appearances for them. The 21-year-old played in two games in both the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons, but did not start a single league game for the Eagles. Jovic netted 27 goals in all competitions last term, attracting interest from Barcelona and Bayern Munich before Real made him the most expensive striker in their history.
