So in his last game as manager, Markus Kay did exactly that by hilariously turning up for the club's final match of the season wearing a full fishing outfit complete with a rod. The 38-year-old sat in his seat on the sideline in protest as he watched his team slump to a 5-1 defeat at home. However, Kay believed his sacking was unfair before telling German media that his actions were 'kind of silent protest'. After firing the coaching staff by WhatsApp, Hulsemann angrily claimed: 'There was no mission, no system, nothing at all, so you can not go on.' Hulsemann went on to compare the staff as 'motionless' fisherman which Kay admitted became a running joke within the team. I simply protested this unworthy farewell. 'On top of that, there has not been a single personal conversation between us and Mr. Hulsemann within the last three weeks; it has always been communicated via WhatsApp. 'I think such a reaction is highly disrespectful.' Kay revealed that it was his father-in-law that came up with the idea to wear the fishing outfit as a protest. He continued: 'That was my father-in-law [who came up with the idea]. I had told him about all the stress within the club and when he heard about the quote from our president, he got up and came back with his old fishing rod shortly thereafter.'
