Lady Kaya, 8-1 third favourite for the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot next week, fractured a leg during a workout at the Curragh. Robbie Colgan-ridden Lady Kaya had given Lavery her best days as a trainer, finishing runner-up in the Group One Moyglare Stud Stakes last year and second to Hermosa in the 1,000 Guineas on her latest run. Lady Kaya, 8-1 third favourite for the Commonwealth Cup, fractured a leg during a workout Lavery said: ‘She was having her final piece of work up the Curragh. She was going beautifully and Robbie just heard a bang.
