Sarri went back to Italy last week ahead of his expected appointment as Juventus boss. Once he returned to his home in Tuscany, Sarri gave an interview to an Italian magazine explaining how much he has missed Italy while he has been in charge at Chelsea. Members of his coaching staff had also given their notice ahead of moving out of their rented properties before Sarri vacated his home. Sarri had hoped his release from Chelsea would be agreed and sanctioned by director Marina Granovskaia by last weekend, a belief underlined by the steps he and his backroom team have taken. But they continue to wait for the green light to join the Italian champions. Sources in Italy are adamant Chelsea have now agreed to let Sarri go. Though how Sarri's £5million compensation will be paid has contributed to the hold-up with Juventus keen to avoid it while Chelsea insistent they want it covered. The Premier League club have turned to their former midfielder, Frank Lampard, as they begin the hunt for their next manager. The Derby boss, who enjoyed a trophy-laden 13-year spell as a player at Stamford Bridge, has held initial discussions about replacing Sarri this summer. Lampard's lack of experience - he has just a year in management under his belt - remains a concern, although he impressed by leading the Rams to the Championship play-off final last month. Outgoing Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri and Ajax manager Erik ten Hag have also been considered for the role.
