Frank Lampard would be considered fortunate to get such a big job after just one season in management at Derby. But I actually think it's Chelsea who are the lucky ones to be able to make a feelgood appointment in a time of potential crisis.
I know Chelsea won the Europa League but I'm sure their fans have felt downcast at seeing Eden Hazard leave for Real Madrid and a transfer ban introduced to block any new signings.
Against that gloomy backdrop, appointing a club icon such as Frank and his assistant Jody Morris, who did excellent work at the Chelsea academy, is perfect for Roman Abramovich.

Not only will Frank get the fans onside, he will also know a lot of the younger players that Chelsea will now rely on.
Frank and Jody won't need time to assess the strengths and weaknesses of Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori, Mason Mount, Kurt Zouma and others. They will know them already. Likewise, Frank won't need a crash course in what the Premier League is all about, unlike a newcomer from Spain or Italy.
He may be short in managerial experience but that is offset by his knowledge of the league. First up, Manchester United at Old Trafford!
