A marathon day for Dan Evans finished in frustration as the weather again had the last laugh on the Briton's bid to win a second title in successive weeks.

The British No 3 made it eight straight wins at grass-court tournaments although he only saw the green stuff at Nottingham Tennis Centre for the first time on Saturday.

His challenges included an unpredictable swirling wind, a stubborn left-hander in unseeded quarter-final opponent Dominic Koepfer and the inadvertent swallowing of a fly, not to mention a long wait before his semi-final against Japanese Go Soeda was called off.
