Manchester City are closing in on the club transfer record to sign Rodri Hernandez, the jewel in Pep Guardiola's summer recruitment plan.
It has long been known that Rodri, the 22-year-old midfielder, has been Guardiola's top priority and he has paved the way for a switch to Manchester after telling Atletico Madrid officials that he wants to leave.
