sport news My six-point plan for England to raise their game

England have only four group games left, including Friday's match against Sri Lanka at Headingley.

Here are the areas they need to look at as they look to book a place in the semi-finals.

Get Jason Roy back on the park pronto

One of the reasons England have been so successful in recent times has been the opening partnership between Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow.

Roy says he hasn't ruled out playing against Australia at Lord's on Tuesday, but I think that might be optimistic.

The key, though, is to get him playing again before the semi-finals because they need to be sure that he's fit enough.

They can't risk him injuring the hamstring again in the semi, especially as runners are no longer allowed.

He should target the match against India at Edgbaston on June 30, which would then also give him the New Zealand game three days later. There's no point rushing back and making things worse.

Tidy up the fielding

England have been pretty good in general in the field, with a couple of exceptions.

They were poor against Pakistan at Trent Bridge, which probably cost them the match, and Bairstow missed a couple of chances against Afghanistan at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

They set high standards and at the moment are not quite matching them. It was no coincidence that their sloppiest performance came against Pakistan, whose fans made the England players feel as if it was an away game.

The same will happen against India at Edgbaston, but rather than get flustered about whether they should have to face such an atmosphere at home, they're going to have to deal with it.

Relocate Adil Rashid's A-game

I'd like to see Rashid bowling with the confidence that made him the leading wicket-taker in ODIs between the last World Cup and this one.

At the moment, that
