Lewis Hamilton has called for Formula One's future to be shaped by someone from outside the sport.
The five-time world champion was speaking after he dominated a French Grand Prix so processional that it triggered extensive soul-searching over what improvements could be made to improve the fare.
Hamilton, who is taking on the unofficial role of the drivers' elder statesman, represented his peers at a meeting in Paris last week at which the regulations for 2021 and beyond were discussed. He was deeply unimpressed by what he discovered, calling the way the sport is run a 'mess'.
