Australian captain Tim Paine was left to rue a heart-breaking lbw decision that cost his side the chance of retaining the Ashes on a miraculous afternoon in Leeds.

With England still needing two runs to win, and No 11 Jack Leach having just survived a gilt-edged run-out chance, Ben Stokes missed a sweep off Nathan Lyon, only for umpire Joel Wilson to reject the appeal. 

Moments earlier, Paine had used up Australia's final review on a speculative lbw shout against Leach.
