Owen Farrell will lead England in Saturday's Rugby World Cup final against South Africa but his sporting career could have taken a completely different trajectory. 

The centre is known to be a safe pair of hands in England's back row, and his skills with the hands were noticed by when the England captain was a youngster.

Farrell is believed to have had a spell training with United in 2005 when he was 13 years old and was highly rated by academy staff for his ability between the sticks.
