Matteo Berrettini became the first Italian singles player since 1978 to seal a place at the ATP Finals.
The 23-year-old became the last of the eight player field to secure their place at the tournament, held at the O2 Arena in London, after results fell in his favour at the Paris Masters on Friday.
Not since Corrado Barazzutti competed in the Finals in New York 41 years ago has Italy been represented at the end of season showpiece in the singles.
