Bayern Munich were close to signing Liverpool star Sadio Mane earlier in his career, according to the German club's chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
The Senegal forward, who has scored 12 goals in all competitions so far this season, attracted interest from Bayern after moving from Metz to Red Bull Salzburg in 2012.
From there, Mane instead joined Premier League club Southampton and then Liverpool in 2016, where he has become a prolific goalscorer.
