Lyon defender Lucy Bronze has insisted she has her heart set on winning a major tournament with England, not a Ballon d'Or, after she was named this year's runner-up to the USA's Megan Rapinoe in the ceremony in Paris on Monday.
'I think everybody knew that Rapinoe was going to win it this year after winning the World Cup, the awards that she got during the tournament, then the FIFA Best award,' Bronze told Sportsmail after the ceremony.
'It was always going to go in that order and she was always going to win the Ballon d'Or on the back of such a successful World Cup,' added the right back, though France Football are still yet to reveal the number of votes each female nominee received.
