Manchester City spent just 15 minutes practising the formation that schooled on Tuesday night.

United failed to grasp Pep Guardiola’s system as he operated with no recognised striker during the 3-1 Carabao Cup semi-final first leg victory at Old Trafford.

City went in at half-time with a commanding three-goal lead and Kevin De Bruyne revealed the team had barely worked on tactics beforehand.

‘We did 15 minutes on the morning of the game,’ De Bruyne said. ‘That's about it. We’ve done it a couple of times before against teams who prefer to play man-against-man. Cardiff, United I think, and Barcelona in (Guardiola’s) first year.’
