Ahead of Real Madrid's Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Valencia defender Raphael Varane was asked: 'Are you worried about the lack of goals?'
His reply was: 'We are satisfied but there are things that can be improved'.
Madrid scored 100 goals in 2019. That's 48 fewer than in 2018 and the lowest return in a decade. So yes, things can improve.

On Wednesday night it will be down to two players who have carried the can for the lack of goals so far to do some of that improving. Luka Jovic is still on just one Real Madrid goal and Vinicius remains the young talent who can do everything but finish.
It was a familiar story for both at the weekend in the 3-0 win over Getafe. They appeared as second half substitutes and Vinicius missed one clear-cut chance and Jovic was booked for a clumsy challenge the first time he went for the ball. Neither scored.
