Former Arsenal and striker Robin van Persie has revealed that Vincent Kompany asked him to come out of retirement and join Anderlecht.

Van Persie retired at the end of last season after his spell at Feyenoord came to an end, but in September last year he scored for a team of Premier League legends in Kompany's testimonial.

The ex-Manchester City centre-back, who is currently the player-manager of Anderlecht, tried to encourage van Persie to join him in Belgium.
