Diego Simeone will be in a one of his favourite places on Saturday – the technical area of the Santiago Bernabeu.
Atletico Madrid's manager might have lost some of his sheen this season but he will know if there is one place he can regain it then its in the coliseum of his team's great rival. Simeone loves the Bernabeu.
He has not lost there in the league since 2012 and his last six visits have ended in three draws and three wins.
Diego Simeone is enduring a miserable season but can revive it away in the Madrid derby
The impressive run was preceded by a big win in the spring of 2013 when Jose Mourinho was in his final days as Real Madrid coach and his team hosted the cup final in which they met Simeone's side.
There was a seismic shift in power that day with a Miranda goal winning it for Atletico in extra-time and Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo both being sent off. Beating Madrid in a final in their own back yard was a big statement from the man in black and Simeone carried on from there in LaLiga.
In Madrid's home fixture the following season Diego Costa scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win. The three points would help Atletico win the league.
