Trainer Jamie Snowden is hoping defeat for Thebannerkingrebel at Haydock last month could be a blessing in disguise for the gelding's challenge for Saturday's Betfair Hurdle at Newbury.
While Thebannerkingrebel would be given 4lb extra carry if the handicapper could assess the £155,000 race again, the horse who won the Rossington Main Novices' Hurdle - Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained Stolen Silver - must carry an 8lb penalty.
That gives Thebannerkingrebel a 12lb turnaround for the two lengths he was beaten by Stolen Silver.
