Luke Shaw admitted he was embarrassed by ’s thrashing at the hands of Tottenham, and suggested that some of his team-mates may have given up during the debacle.

United had Anthony Martial sent off in the first half and Shaw could easily have followed for a challenge on Lucas Moura that was punished by a yellow card.

Shaw said: ‘ shouldn’t lose in this manner. It really hurts. It’s embarrassing and we’ve let a lot of people down. We’ve let ourselves down and the staff down.
