Arsenal are exploring whether Kieran Tierney can avoid having to isolate for a fortnight – and miss their Manchester City trip – after Scotland teammate Stuart Armstrong tested positive for Covid-19.

Tierney, along with Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie and two members of Scotland staff are required to undergo 14 days in isolation following Southampton midfielder Armstrong’s result.

The quartet were deemed to be ‘close contacts’ of Armstrong who initially tested negative for coronavirus when he linked up with Scotland on Monday before a secondary UEFA test on Tuesday was returned positive yesterday.
