Dortmund chief Hans-Joachim Watzke admits he is 'quite optimistic' of agreeing a new contract with star forward Erling Haaland amid doubt over the Norwegian's future at the club. 

Haaland signed for the Bundesliga side in January and has lived up to his reputation as one of the most talented young forwards in Europe - scoring 26 goals in 28 games for the team so far. 

His performances for previous club Red Bull Salzburg had generated a host of interest from top clubs around Europe, including and , but Dortmund won the race in a shock £17million deal, and now the club face a battle to keep the player on their books next year.
