An ultrasound test on Sunday proved inconclusive so Hazard was sent for an MRI scan on Monday. This confirmed a problem with the rectus femoris muscle of his right leg.

'Following tests carried out today on our player, Eden Hazard, by medical services, he has been diagnosed with an injury in the rectus femoris muscle of his right leg,' a club statement said.

'His recovery will continue to be assessed.'
