England QUALIFY for Euro 2020 knockout stages after Ukraine and Russia both finish third in their groups with three points, meaning that even if Gareth Southgate's side lose to Czechs they will reach last-16 By Ben Nagle for MailOnline Published: 21:53 BST, 21 June 2021 | Updated: 21:55 BST, 21 June 2021 Viewcomments England are guaranteed to reach the knockout stages of Euro 2020 after results elsewhere ensured they will at worst qualify as a best third-placed team. Three groups have now been completed, with Ukraine and Finland both ending with three points in third place of their respective groups. Of the six groups, four third-placed teams will go through and with England already having four points they are now unable to miss out as a third-placed team. Third is the worst position Gareth Southgate's men can finish in Group D, so it is now impossible for the Three Lions to crash out in the group stages of the tournament. It is also good news for the Czech Republic, France and Sweden, who are all now in the same position and unable to crash out in the group stages of the Euros. That said, the news is unlikely to see England take their foot off the gas at Wembley on Tuesday night, as they look for a second win of the group stages against the Czech Republic. More to follow.
