If you thought the story of how he won the US Open just a decade after entering the American college system speaking not a word of English was inspiring enough, Jon Rahm topped it effortlessly.
The Spaniard was asked for the umpteenth time about his relatively short backswing - and, for perhaps the first time publicly, disclosed the truth. He spoke of his physical limitations and then, to the increasing admiration of his captive audience, explained them.

Rahm revealed the story when being asked about his relatively short backswing
'I'm going to say I've been a pro for five years and I'm tired of hearing that the reason my backswing is short is because I have tight hips or something else stupid,' Rahm (right) began.
'So, for people that don't know, I was born with a club foot on my right leg, which means for anybody who is sensitive about that, my right leg up to the ankle was straight, my foot was 90 degrees turned inside and basically upside down.
'They broke every bone in my ankle and within 20 minutes of being born I was in a cast from the knee down. Every week I had to go to the hospital to get my leg recast and it meant it didn't grow at the same rate as my other leg.
