Borussia Dortmund have hailed Jadon Sancho for his 'absolutely flawless behaviour' after the England star was made to wait a year before completing his dream move to Manchester United on Friday.

United were interested in signing the 21-year-old last summer but failed to agree on the £108million price-tag set by the Bundesliga giants, which saw any deal put on the back-burner until this summer.

Sancho had made it known to Dortmund that he wished to join United last year when he was alerted to their interest, but was respectful even after being made to wait a year.

The winger ended up he netting 16 goals and 20 assists for the German side in last season, who could only finish third in the Bundesliga but did win the German Cup.

Then, after months of negotiations, Sancho was finally granted his wish and completed a £73m move to the Red Devils on Friday afternoon, where he declared 'this is my club, this is where I belong' as he posed in the new United home strip at his unveiling.

His behaviour and good manners in the build up to the big-money switch appear to have had a lasting effect on Dortmund, who heaped praise on the winger for his professionalism throughout.

'It was Jadon's express desire to return to his home country and the Premier League, and his behaviour was absolutely flawless at all times,' Hans-Joachim Watzke, CEO of Borussia Dortmund, told the club's official website. 'I would therefore like to thank him on behalf of everyone at BVB.'
