In the end this was won by Bermuda's Flora Duffy but all eyes were fixed on Manchester's Taylor Brown, who appeared to see her medal hopes vanish when a rear tyre puncture in the cycling stage cost her 22 seconds. In treacherous conditions Duffy set the standard with a sublime display to lead from the front but this was as much about Taylor-Brown's efforts of recovery to add to GB's medal haul following Mega Monday.
