But for Muhammad, it was as if history was repeating himself considering how he suffered a similar last-second loss in his gold medal match in Rio 2016, leaving him to walk off the studio set in disbelief on Tuesday morning.
Walkden's loss in the final second swiftly followed defeats for Team GB team-mates Bradley Sinden and Lauren Williams, both of whom had to settle for silver medals after seeing leads overturned late on.
As Muhammad offered analysis for Walkden's bout, host Dan Walker revealed how they had a camera on the former Olympian to capture his emotion before he left the set.
