I think Simone was very brave to tell the truth of her experience. Hopefully it will highlight the importance of mental well-being.
Athletes are focused mainly on their physical performance and so if anything untoward happened to them physically, that would be seen as potentially more acceptable for people to understand.
It may take some people longer to get their heads around it, to exactly understand what is going on with her. But the fact she's explained why she pulled out gets people talking about it and
