Jack Grealish made his Manchester City debut from the bench but it was another substitute, Kelechi Iheanacho, who won the Community Shield for Leicester.

The former City striker Iheanacho won a second Community Shield for Leicester - 50 years to the day since they won their first - with a penalty two minutes from time sealing a 1-0 victory at Wembley.

Nathan Ake clumsily brought down Iheanacho in the area, the striker beating Steffen to send the Leicester fans wild.

Sportsmail's Jack Gaughan rated the players.

LEICESTER CITY (4-2-3-1)

Kasper Schmeichel - 7

Was not asked a huge amount of questions but made a couple of decent stops from distance.

Ricardo Pereira - 7

Big season coming up for the full back after injury problems and this was a strong start.

Daniel Amartey – 6.5

Filled in admirably with Wesley Fofana injured. Occasional rash decision in the tackle.

Caglar Soyuncu – 8

Had no trouble keeping Ferran Torres quiet. No nonsense when that was called upon.

Ryan Bertrand – 6.5

Stood up to the task of handling Riyad Mahrez on debut. Should be a smart addition for Leicester.

Wilfried Ndidi – 7.5

Broke up play as you would expect, notably picking Cole Palmer’s pocket to start one move.

Youri Tielemans – 6.5

Tidy display as he looks to build match fitness. Slowed the game down when required.

Ayoze Perez – 5.5

Seemed to be a peripheral figure for much of the afternoon. Didn’t see much of the ball.

James Maddison - 7

At his best when playing up alongside Jamie Vardy but orchestrated when dropping deeper.

Harvey Barnes - 7

Very threatening coming off the left. Direct running often saw Joao Cancelo backpedalling.
