Patrick Reed was so gravely ill in hospital with bilateral pneumonia two weeks ago that doctors told him to make sure he had long conversations with his family. Now he’s dreaming of playing in the Ryder Cup.
In a drama worthy of the Captain America moniker he revels in, Reed, 31, recounted in graphic detail the ‘scary’ six days he spent in hospital that left him fearing for his life.
‘The whole time I was in hospital felt like an eternity but the first couple of days were the worst,’ he revealed. ‘They were treating me for bilateral pneumonia but what was scary was that I had it in my lower lobes and that’s what causes all the deaths. They were telling me to make sure I texted my family and to have long talks
