The Premier League is set to return this weekend and with it comes a host of new, and some not so new, faces.

It is the first weekend of action since the summer transfer window slammed shut on August 31, and fans will be excited at the prospect of seeing deadline-day signings in action.

Saul Niguez's move from Atletico Madrid to Chelsea grabbed the headlines and Blues supporters will be eager to get their first glimpse of the Spain international on Saturday evening, while Arsenal and Tottenham also have acquisitions to show off.

Then of course there is the small matter of Cristiano Ronaldo's Old Trafford return.

Here, Sportsmail takes a look at the biggest names who could be set for their Premier League bows this weekend.

Odsonne Edouard

CRYSTAL PALACE v Tottenham (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Throughout the summer, Palace had been crying out for more firepower. It took until the final day of the window to get their man.

Odsonne Edouard arrived for £15million from Celtic, finally getting his wish for a crack at an elite league following four seasons in Glasgow.

His goalscoring record in Scotland should be some cause for optimism amongst Eagles supporters, with the 23-year-old scoring 86 times for the Hoops in 179 appearances across all competitions.

Patrick Vieira will be hoping his man can hit the ground running after their sluggish start to the season in front of goal.

They failed to score in any of the Frenchman's first three games in charge in all competitions, before Conor Gallagher grabbed two in their draw with West Ham at the end of August.

Emerson Royal

Crystal Palace v TOTTENHAM (Saturday, 12.30pm)

It has been a chaotic transfer window for Emerson Royal to say the least.

The 22-year-old Brazilian arrived back at Barcelona at the beginning of the window after the club exercised their clause to bring him in from Real Betis.

He would have been forgiven for thinking his immediate future lay at the Nou Camp, then. However, the club's dire finances ensured otherwise.

Made available for transfer with the club struggling to register the player, Tottenham swooped in with £26m on deadline day to bolster their own backline.

Despite admitting he never wanted to leave Barcelona, LaLiga's loss is Spurs' gain, with Royal rated as one of the best attacking right-backs in Spain's top flight.

Takehiro Tomiyasu

ARSENAL v Norwich (Saturday, 3pm)

Takehiro Tomiyasu's £20m move from Bologna came out of the blue on deadline day, with no real noise surrounding the deal until it was just about complete.

The lack of fanfare compared to other signings this summer may be a sign that the 22-year-old is not thought of as an instant star, but his performance against China for Japan during the international break did provide supporters with some reassurance over his abilities.

Defensive reinforcements were key for Mikel Arteta, with the Gunners' woes at the back clear to see at the beginning of this season.

He may be thrown into the mix quicker than anticipated against Norwich to help turn the side's fortunes.

Marc Cucurella

Brentford v BRIGHTON (Saturday, 3pm)

Marc Cucurella came through Barcelona's academy and shone at Getafe

One of the more astute pieces of business towards the end of the window was Brighton's £15m acquisition of Getafe's highly-rated defender Marc Cucurella.

Only a year ago the former Barcelona youth product was being linked with the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal, only for the Seagulls to now swoop in.

Cucurella made his full Spain debut over the summer, albeit due to the fact that the original squad had to isolate due to Sergio Busquets' positive Covid-19 test,
