Eddie Hearn insists Dillian Whyte must be made the WBC mandatory challenger, providing he gets past Otto Wallin on October 30.
All signs were pointing towards an all-British undisputed showdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua in March 2022, but with the latter losing his WBA, WBO and IBF bets in a unanimous decision defeat to Oleksandr Usyk, a fight for all the belts has taken a further delay.
Joshua confirmed his desire to take the contractually agreed rematch immediately after his defeat, with Hearn claiming the WBC now have no reason not to install Whyte as mandatory challenger.
In doing so, Whyte - who currently holds the WBC interim heavyweight belt - would be ordered to face the winner of Fury and Deontay Wilder, who square off for a third time on October 9.
