The Detroit Lions suffered yet another heartbreaking loss in Week 5 as the Vikings were able to kick a game-winning field goal just seconds after Dan Campbell's team took the lead with roughly 30 second to play in the game. To make matter's worse, they also are now down a receiver, who left Sunday's contest due to injury. According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, Quintez Cephus suffered a broken collarbone in the loss and is now slated to undergo surgery.

Pelissero adds that Cephus is looking at a three-month recovery post-surgery. That means that unless the 0-5 Lions rally and suddenly make a push for the playoffs, Cephus' season is effectively over.

Cephus suffered the injury at the end of the first half of Sunday's loss and was eventually ruled out of the contest. When asked about his injury after the game, Campbell told reporters that it "doesn't look good," essentially suggesting what is now known to be an ailment that will sidelined him for the foreseeable future.

In his second season in the elague, Cephus -- a fifth round pick of the Lions in 2020 -- has been a pleasant surprise for Detroit. Through five games (three starts), he caught 15 of his 22 targets for 204 yards and two touchdowns. Prior to going down on Sunday, he caught all three of his targets for 38 yards.
