Russell Wilson will be placed on injured reserve, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll told reporters on Friday after Wilson was ruled out of Sunday night's game against the Steelers. The earliest Wilson can return to the field is for Seattle's Week 10 game against the Packers following their Week 9 bye.

Based on Wilson's injury, the Seahawks' projected win total has dipped from 8-8 to 7.8 wins, according to CBS Sports data scientist Stephen Oh. Seattle's playoff odds have fallen from 42.7 percent to 22.2.
