Sunday Night Football odds, spread, line: Seahawks vs. Steelers picks, predictions from expert on 47-26 roll

The last time the Pittsburgh Steelers hosted the Seattle Seahawks, things went terribly wrong in several ways for the home team. In addition to dropping a 28-26 decision, Pittsburgh lost the services of Ben Roethlisberger, who suffered a season-ending elbow injury in the first half. The 39-year-old quarterback will be seeking dramatically different results when the Seahawks visit the Steelers on Sunday Night Football. Seattle will be without its star signal-caller this time around as Russell Wilson recovers from a finger injury he suffered in the Week 5 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

Kickoff from Heinz Field is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET. Pittsburgh is a five-point favorite in the latest Steelers vs. Seahawks odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the over-under for total points scored is 43. Before locking in any Seahawks vs. Steelers picks or Sunday Night Football predictions, make sure you check out what red-hot SportsLine expert R.J. White has to say.

White, a CBS Sports fantasy and gambling editor, ended the 2020 season on an 80-59 run on all NFL picks, returning more than $1,400 during that span. It's no surprise, as White has cashed huge twice in the world's most prestigious football handicapping competition, the Las Vegas SuperContest.

In addition, White has gone an amazing 47-26-3 on his last 76 picks involving Pittsburgh, returning more than $1,800. Anyone who has followed him is way up.

Now, White has locked in on Steelers vs. Seahawks and released a confident against the spread pick. You can visit SportsLine now to see the pick. Here are several Sunday Night Football odds and betting lines for Seahawks vs. Steelers:

Why the Steelers can cover

Roethlisberger threw a pair of touchdown passes in Pittsburgh's 27-19 home victory over Denver last week, his first multi-TD effort of the season. One of the scoring tosses was a 50-yard pass to Diontae Johnson, who has hauled in half of Roethlisberger's touchdown passes this year. The 25-year-old Johnson has missed one of the Steelers' five games with a knee injury but has had a touchdown reception in three of the contests in which he played and recorded his lone 100-yard performance (105) of 2021 in the other.

Najee Harris has proven to be a solid first-round draft pick thus far, as he is one of only 15 running backs in the league with more than 300 rushing yards through five games. The 23-year-old, who was selected 24th overall out of Alabama in this year's NFL Draft, is coming off his first career 100-yard effort as he gained 122 on 23 carries while also running for a touchdown. Harris has been a big part of Pittsburgh's passing game as well, as he has a team-leading 28 receptions for 198 yards and a score.

Why the Seahawks can cover

Smith, who made just one appearance for Seattle last season, replaced Wilson last week and completed 10-of-17 pass attempts for 131 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He was especially impressive on his first series, going 5-for-5 for 72 yards on a drive that concluded with a 23-yard TD pass to DK Metcalf. Sunday's contest will be just the third start by Smith since he made 29 over his first two NFL seasons with the New York Jets in 2013 and 2014.

One of Smith's top targets likely will be Metcalf, who was limited in practice this week but will play on Sunday night. The 23-year-old made five catches for 98 yards and a pair of touchdowns against the Rams, giving him five scoring receptions on the season and leaving him one behind Mike Williams of the Los Angeles Chargers for most in the NFL. Metcalf is tied with Tyler Lockett for the team lead in catches (25) and trails him in receiving yards by seven with 383.

How to make Steelers vs. Seahawks picks

For Sunday Night Football, White is leaning under on the point total, but he also says a critical X-factor makes one side of the spread a must-back. He's only sharing his SNF expert pick at SportsLine.
