The Nov. 2 NFL trade deadline is quickly approaching, and we will soon begin to see reports concerning players who could be available. We will also see head coaches and general managers take potential trade pieces off the table, which is exactly what Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians did on Wednesday.
Leonard Fournette has emerged as the starter in Tampa Bay's backfield while Ronald Jones has taken a back seat. Arians was asked about potentially trading a running back, and he said he had no interest in doing that.
"No, not at all," Arians said, per NFL.com. "It's a long season, and just that scenario that happened last year, and still with COVID -- you can't have enough good players."
Jones has recorded just one start this season and hasn't played more than 19 percent of offensive snaps over the last four weeks. He has rushed 10 times for 41 yards and caught two passes for two yards over the last two games. Fournette on the other hand has been playing some of his best football for the Buccaneers, and is coming off of a 127-yard, two-touchdown performance against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Jones, who was drafted by the Buccaneers in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of USC, was Tampa's starter last year, and rushed for a career-high 978 yards and seven touchdowns in 14 games played. While his role has changed, Arians still considers him to be a valuable part of his team.
