What to KnowAfter two games on the road, the Los Angeles Rams are heading back home. They will take on the Detroit Lions at 4:05 p.m. ET Sunday at SoFi Stadium. Los Angeles will be hoping to build upon the 30-16 win they picked up against Detroit when they previously played in December of 2018.
The Rams made easy work of the New York Giants last week and carried off a 38-11 win. With Los Angeles ahead 28-3 at the half, the matchup was all but over already. Their success was spearheaded by the efforts of WR Cooper Kupp, who caught nine passes for two TDs and 130 yards, and QB Matthew Stafford, who passed for four TDs and 251 yards on 28 attempts.
Los Angeles' defense was a presence as well, as it collected three interceptions and one fumble. SAF Taylor Rapp picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, a victory for Detroit just wasn't in the stars last week as the squad never even grasped a temporary lead. They ended up on the wrong side of a painful 34-11 walloping at the Cincinnati Bengals' hands. The Lions were down 20 to nothing at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. QB Jared Goff had a memorable game, but not in the way you want to be remembered: besides failing to produce a single touchdown, he threw one interception with only 4.81 yards per passing attempt.
The Rams are the favorite in this one, with an expected 16-point margin of victory. They are currently two-for-two against the spread in their most recent games, a trend bettors might want to take into account.
Los Angeles' win lifted them to 5-1 while Detroit's defeat dropped them down to 0-6. The Los Angeles defense got after the quarterback against the Giants to the tune of four sacks, so Detroit's offensive line better have put in some good practice this past week in preparation for the game.
