After the November 2019 death of Patricia Allen, Josh Allen's grandmother, Bills Mafia showed support for their quarterback and his family by donating $1.4 million to Buffalo's John R. Oishei Children's Hospital. The hospital took its turn honoring Allen's grandmother on Tuesday by unveiling the Patricia Allen Pediatric Recovery Wing.

Allen toured the 10th-floor wing, which also honors the 27,000 fans who donated to the Patricia Allen Fund with a playroom called the Bills Fans Fun Zone, on Tuesday.

"It was an honor and a privilege to tour the Patricia Allen Pediatric Recovery Wing," Allen said in a statement. "My family and I cannot even begin to express our gratitude for the support this community has shown us. The dedication and commitment that the staff at Oishei shows families and patients during their time in the hospital absolutely exemplifies what it means to live in the city of good neighbors here in Buffalo."

Oishei Children's Hospital and the Allen family established the Patricia Allen Fund last December, and with the help of Bills Mafia -- many of whom donated in $17 increments to match Allen's jersey number -- it raised $1.1 million by the end of 2020. The fund has since grown to $1.4 million, according to the Bills.

"As a born and raised Bills fan myself, the outpouring of support from fans across the globe after Patricia's passing last year was a wonderful reminder of who we are – the city of good neighbors," Oishei Children's Hospital president Allegra C. Jaros said. "Yesterday we were proud to honor the outpouring of support from the bills fans, by unveiling the 'Patricia Allen Pediatric Recovery Wing' and 'Bills Fans Fun Zone' to Josh Allen and his family. It will forever be a special part of Oishei Children's Hospital."

Allen and his 4-2 Bills will return to Highmark Stadium for a game against the 1-6 Miami Dolphins on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. The Bills hope to avenge last week's Monday Night Football loss to the Tennessee Titans behind the rocket-powered arm of Allen, who's tossed 15 touchdowns to only three interceptions this season.
