To this point the fastest winger in the world has been fuelled by chicken parmos and salt and vinegar crisps – but Adam Radwan now has the hunger to speed up his rapid rise with England.

Before he became an England international the 23-year-old Newcastle wing's half-time snack was a packet of McCoys.

'I used to eat half, and when I'd come back to them our head coach Dean Richards had eaten the other half, so I think he's disappointed I've stopped doing it!' laughs Radwan, talking exclusively to Sportsmail.

'There's probably more professional ways of stopping cramp than a bag of McCoys!

'I've got these little calcium tablets instead now. The crisps were probably a bit psychological – I stole it from Michael Phelps, he tried it so I thought I'd give it a crack and it worked well!'

Just a bit. Radwan is now England's newest star – who can run 24mph, making him the quickest on the circuit – having scored four tries in his first two Tests including one inside three minutes last Saturday against Tonga.

If he takes another against the Aussies there will be a parmo with his name on it – Radwan's favourite cheat-meal snack he covers in béchamel sauce and garlic mayonnaise.

The flyer is happily gobbling up this England experience. While missing his cocker spaniel Pablo, Radwan is walking on air, not quite believing what he is achieving.

'Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be starting for England with Jonny May on the other wing – it's just mad, amazing, and quite special,' he continues, looking over to May who is sitting at another table outside the England team hotel.

'He skinned Conrad Smith in 2014, that was mental. He's an unbelievable player, and in the past few years one of the best wingers in the world.'

Radwan wants to emulate May, having come into the England fold like his hero aged 23 when the Lions were away. When May made his debut in 2013, Radwan was 15 and had only been playing rugby for three years. Aged 12 he first played No 8 for Middlesbrough.

'I didn't have a clue what I was doing but really enjoyed it. The second game I went back, played on the wing and scored seven tries!' he explains.

Radwan is not quite sure why it took him so long to get into rugby.

His uncle, a physio for West Hartlepool, took him to England v Wales in 2008 at Twickenham and the All Blacks win in 2012 – he loved watching but only kicked on as a
