Victory in the T20 World Cup would be England's greatest white-ball achievement given the absence of so many big-name players, according to all-rounder Moeen Ali.
Jason Roy joined the list after a scan confirmed he had torn his left calf during the 10-run defeat by South Africa on Saturday.
Roy, who has been replaced in the squad by Hampshire's James Vince — already in the UAE as one of England's travelling reserves — said he was 'gutted to be ruled out of the World Cup', but is aiming to be fit for the T20 series against West Indies in Barbados starting on January 22.
Moeen Ali says an England World Cup victory would show the depth of English cricket
But Ali, who has played a central part in England's passage to Wednesday's semi-final against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi, said Roy's injury did not detract from the belief that the team can unite the white-ball titles in Sunday's Dubai final.
