Emma Raducanu is pictured lying flat on her back with a big smile on her face in a previously unseen photo from her US Open triumph back in September.

The British teenager produced one of the sporting stories of the year when she navigated the qualifying rounds in New York to storm all the way to the final, where she defeated Canada's Leylah Fernandez 6-4, 6-3 to win her first Grand Slam title, as well as £1.8million in prize money.

Raducanu, who is based in Bromley, Kent, made history and a rare photo in the immediate aftermath from the locker room has now been shared across her Instagram page.

She is seen lying down on some cream-coloured furniture with a bandaged knee to stop bleeding she sustained during the match.

The teenager has a big smile on her face as she comes to terms with the magnitude of her achievement, which propelled her to being a national treasure overnight.
