The Los Angeles Chargers placed wide receiver Mike Williams and cornerback Chris Harris Jr. on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Wednesday. This comes after the club placed fellow wideout Keenan Allen, who did test positive for COVID-19, in health and safety protocols on Monday in the aftermath of the team's win over the Bengals in Cincinnati.

While this initially looked as if this was the start of a breakout within the Chargers organization, coach Brandon Staley noted on Wednesday afternoon both Williams and Harris were deemed close contacts to Allen, which is what triggered their placement on the reserve list. Staley noted that neither is ruled out for Los Angeles' Week 14 matchup with the New York Giants and are considered "day-to-day."

That paints a much more positive picture for both Williams and Harris and their chances of playing on Sunday. If they both continue to test negative, they should be activated in time.

The possible loss of Williams and Allen would be killer for the Chargers offense, as they are the team's top two receivers. Williams is also coming off a strong outing against the Bengals where he caught five of his seven targets for a team-high 110 yards. Meanwhile, Harris has started in seven of his nine games played for L.A. this season and has 26 tackles, two passes defended and an interception.
