Rafa Benitez has issued a public apology to Everton fans posted online on Sunday afternoon, following the Spaniard's dismissal at Goodison Park.

The former Real Madrid and Liverpool boss was relieved of his managerial duties on Sunday evening, following their 2-1 away defeat to Norwich on Saturday afternoon. 

In a post on his website, Benitez apologised to the Toffee fans and claimed that financial restrictions made life difficult in Merseyside.
