Feisty Thomas Frank taunts 'unbelievably lucky' Manchester United after beating his Brentford side 3-1 and claims 'we absolutely destroyed them in the first half - our intensity killed them' Brentford produced an impressive first-half display against Manchester United Goals by Anthony Elanga, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford saw them win Bees boss Thomas Frank was bullish over the standard of his side's display By Jack Bezants for MailOnline Published: 23:19 GMT, 19 January 2022 | Updated: 00:03 GMT, 20 January 2022 Viewcomments Brentford boss Thomas Frank gave a scathing assessment of Manchester United's credentials after his side went down 3-1 against the Red Devils. Anthony Elanga, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford led United to a 3-1 victory but they rode their luck at times - or, as Frank put it: 'We absolutely destroyed Manchester United in the first half. 'I'm unbelievably proud of my team. We are the smallest club in the Premier League, Manchester United the biggest. We destroyed them in the first half, they didn't have a sniff, three huge chances and there could only have been one winner of this game. Thomas Frank didn't hold back talking about Manchester United after they beat Brentford Bullish Frank said that United had got 'unbelievably lucky' in the match with Brentford "I think we destroyed them. I think they are unbelievably lucky.""The way we smashed them first half is fantastic."A sensational post-match interview from Brentford manager Thomas Frank after his side's 3-1 loss to Man Utd.???? @TheDesKelly pic.twitter.com/qAok81zBEM — Football on BT Sport (@btsportfootball) January 19, 2022 'They are unbelievably lucky. I know all the stuff about taking chances. They changed the system against little Brentford. 'One of those nights, fair play to David de Gea, if we get those chances again one will go in the back of the net. Our intensity killed them, we showed that in the first half, we played the Brentford way. 'The game opened up but they hadn't had a chance before their goal. That's why they pay £72m for Jadon Sancho and he's not even in the team. 'Of the three goals, the second is most disappointing and difficult to come back from. The way we smashed them in the first half was fantastic, so proud of my team.' Brentford have now lost five out of their last six Premier League matches and sit 14th in the Premier League standings. But Frank was unequivocal in how pleased he was with the standard of his side's performance against such illustrious opponents. Frank was clearly unimpressed with what he saw from Ralf Rangnick's setup at United 'I know goals change the momentum of games but if you look at the overall performance over 90 minutes there was only one winner, and that was us,' he said. 'I'm unbelievably proud of the team and the players and the way we absolutely destroyed Manchester United in the first half. We had six chances. They had zero. 'It's a miracle they were not 2-0 down at half-time. My boys always keep running and fighting and they did that until the end.'
