The New York Giants' search for a new general manager has come to a close.

CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reported on Thursday night that there was a strong expectation that the Giants will offer their GM job on Friday, with the team's coaching search expected to ramp up quickly after they did so. On Friday morning, La Canfora and CBS Sports NFL Insider Jonathan Jones confirmed that Buffalo Bills assistant general manager Joe Schoen is the team's choice.

Earlier Friday, ESPN and the New York Daily News indicated that there were three finalists for the job: Schoen, Kansas City Chiefs executive director of player personnel Ryan Poles, and San Francisco 49ers assistant GM Adam Peters.

The Giants had previously made it clear that the team's next GM will lead the search for deposed head coach Joe Judge's replacement. Schoen will now embark on that search, which makes it interesting that ESPN reported on Friday morning that Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll has been a name of interest for the Giants. Subsequent reports indicated that Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores would also be candidates.

Daboll has been a top coaching candidate in each of the last two offseasons, with his ability to build a forward-thinking and explosive offense around quarterback Josh Allen a selling point in his favor. Quinn has been one of the hottest names of this hiring cycle, with his dramatic turnaround of the Dallas defense working as a feather in his cap. Floes' parting with the Dolphins was viewed as a surprise, and he is considered also a candidate for the top jobs on Chicago and Houston.
