The England international, whose contract expires in 2023, worked under Gunners boss Mikel Arteta at City previously and is expected to be a primary target as they look to bolster their squad. The 27-year-old has been a regular under Pep Guardiola, featuring 45 times, notching 16 goals and picking up a further seven assists in all competitions so far this campaign, including two against Newcastle United in their 5-0 win on Sunday. Arsenal are reportedly set to explore the possibility of signing Raheem Sterling this summer The 27-year-old attacker's contract at Man City is due to expire in the summer of 2023 Despite still being a key part of City's success, his future remains uncertain with just one year left, but the forward has put talks over his future to one side to concentrate on the Premier League title defence and adding a fourth winners’ medal to his collection. Arsenal, however, are planning to bolster their squad with the potential of being back in the Champions League next season. Arteta, who recently signed a new contract, will be backed in the transfer market and is looking for firepower to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and out-of-contract Alexandre Lacazette with Sterling top of the list, according to The Telegraph. The Spaniard worked closely with Sterling during his three years at the Etihad as a member of Guardiola’s backroom staff, before going his own way and becoming the manager of Arsenal. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta worked closely with Sterling during his three years at the Etihad The report also suggest that Arteta would be willing to make Sterling the focal point of the Gunners' attack. A potential move for Sterling would heavily depend on ensuring European football next season and no doubt if the forward is to become available they will face competition from other clubs around Europe. Arsenal currently sit fourth, four points clear of rivals Tottenham, with just three games left to be played this season. In order to compete at the top end of the league table and in Europe next season the focus will be on adding more goals after Aubameyang departed in January with current forwards Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah also set to leave. Arteta will need to add goals into his side with Alexandre Lacazette (left) and Eddie Nketiah (right) both set to depart in the summer when their contracts expire Frenchman Lacazette recently revealed that he is in talks with a number of clubs ahead of the expiry of his Gunners contract in the summer. Arsenal still intend to make a decision on the 31-year-old's future at the end of the season - although he is free to negotiate a deal with foreign clubs. Nketiah is slightly a different situation with the young striker keen to leave in pursuit of more regular game time with his contract running out in the summer. The 22-year-old, however, has started Arsenal’s last four Premier League victories with Arteta reportedly keen to keep the striker at the club.
