Aussie golfing legend Greg Norman has been slammed by the wife of a slain journalist and Aussie fellow golfing icon Karrie Webb for his defence of the Saudi Arabian government.

Norman's company, LIV Golf Investments - a competitor to the PGA Tour - is primarily funded by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia. 

Norman has come under fire for comments he made regarding Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi's murder at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul on October 2, 2018.

A team of agents from Saudi Arabia dismembered Khashoggi with a bone saw inside the consulate, according to Turkish officials. 

Some members of the group were affiliated with the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's office. Unfortunately, his remains have never been discovered.

US intelligence agencies and the US Congress said an operation of this magnitude could not have been carried out without the knowledge of the Crown Prince and concluded that he had ordered the attack on the slain journalist.

'Look, we've all made mistakes and you just want to learn by those mistakes and how you can correct them going forward,' Norman said
